This could be a couple of other things:

1)	Some email server want a reverse lookup on an ip address to make
sure it's not spam. I'm guessing you're sending from 10.95.0.21. If you
can get on the smtp server, do an nslookup and see what 10.95.0.21
returns. If nothing comes back (e.g. you get an error message), you need
to configure a reverse address (in.arpa.addr) or configure the sendmail
not to require one from 10.95.0.21.
2)	The sendmail may need to be configured to allow 10.95.0.21 to
relay through it.=20

You can also test this manually from the BSD shell via telnet <smtp ip
address> 25. The procedure is documented at Microsoft via
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323350.

Could be a DNS configuration issue, if they have a real DNS server as
opposed to an Internal DNS server, causing worldwide lookups and failing
to recognize fsm.sc1 as a domain. Or perhaps a 'good 'ol days' issue,
meaning you'll need to configure the management vsvr with an IP address.
I'm not sure if we still use the logic of first trying to send via mgmt
interface and then fall back on sc interfaces. If we do still use that
logic, it seems that you mgmt interface is not configured.

I thought for sure we changed the from address to something else. I'm
sending this out to the group, we'll be sure to get a better answer then
I can provide.=20

BTW, it would be good to see the autosupport config and know the version
of Everon Code, maybe some corresponding elogs. Possibly their sendmail
version.
 << Message: RE: autosupport misunderstandings and Time Inc. >>=20

The attached mail is quite old, but you get the 'good 'ol days'
reference.

Hey John,

New install that can't get autosupport working, sees the following on
the mail server and it never gets through.

Feb 21 15:38:35 postage-due sendmail[7882]: l1LKcXp7007882:
ruleset=3Dcheck_mail, arg1=3D<root@fsm.sc1>, relay=3D[10.95.0.21], =
reject=3D553
5.1.8 <root@fsm.sc1>... Domain of sender address root@fsm.sc1 does not
exist
Feb 21 15:38:35 postage-due sendmail[7882]: l1LKcXp7007882:
from=3D<root@fsm.sc1>, size=3D2175, class=3D0, nrcpts=3D0, =
proto=3DESMTP,
daemon=3DMTA, relay=3D[10.95.0.21]

Doesn't like the fsm.sc1

If I send myself email from our lab using sendmail it comes through
using root@CSLAB1.sc1 so our mail server works.

Sooo is there anything I can change on the filer or what needs to change
on his mail server.

Thanks,
Bill
